Ooni of Ife

Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi OjajaII, Ooni of Ife is a Nigerian accountant andthe 51st Ooni ofIfe. He succeeded the late Oba OkunadeSijuwade who died on July 28,2015. Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi OjajaII is an astute entrepreneur driven by turning impossibilities to possibilities. His reign has been marked by a numberof modern and progressive outlook and policies.

The ??ni isa trained accountant. He attended the Polytechnic Ibadan.

In 2002, heled the Federal Government of Nigeria delegation to Canada that enhanced alliances through apartnership with the government of Ondo State on solid mineral.

On October26, 2015, Adeyeye was selected as a king-elect out of 21 contenders to the Oonistool in an announcement by the Governor of ?`?un State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. As a prince from theGiesi Family whose turn it was to produce a king, he beat out a number ofcompetitors including his elder brother. Oba Ogunwusi received his Staff ofOffice from Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Raufu Adesoji Aregbesola on Monday 7December 2015 at Enuwa Square, Ile-Ife in the presence of several dignitariesfrom all walks of life including the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof YemiOsinbajo. The new king promised to unite the Yorubas under a peaceful andprosperous reign.

Since hiscoronation, the king has made news for a number of notable actions andpronouncements including the promise not to re-litigate supremacy battles withother Yoruba kings.

On January17, 2016, Ooni Ogunwusibroke a 79 year-old antagonism between the thrones ofIf? and Oyo by visiting the Alaafin, the first of such visits in eight decadesby an If? monarch. He has instituted a number of progressive causes in Ile Ife,including a cocoa farm meant to feed thousands of widows in the state.

On June 12,2016, ??ni was presented with the key of the City of Sumerset, FranklinTownship in New Jersey and honored with the proclamation of the town ofFranklin alongside his wife Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi (Yeyelua). On November 19,2016 His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II will be honored with thehighest NAFCA Legend award as he becomes the Grand Patron of the prestigiousHollywood award a position held by our father the late Ooni Oba OkunadeSijuwade.
